Dhoby Ghaut Cafe @ Sungai Nibong, Penang

It has been a long time that I did not visit this shop. We tend to forget this shop. And during one dinner, we decided to drop by this restaurant and do a review about this. As I think I never blog about this shop before.
After we were seated, I looked around and saw the business hour, which start from 7.00pm till 2.00am. Then I told hubby that next time we know where to get supper when there are visitors visiting us. As sometime, we had visitor arrived late at night. Please reminded that the shop closed on Monday.
Location: 247H, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Sungai Nibong, Penang.
(It is at the back of Goh Teo Kee Restaurant ~ Sungai Nibong Branch)
Since we arrived early and the KTT stall owner is still preparing it, so hubby go and order some flower clams.

Flower Clams
What good about this stall is, they came with a small stainless steel bowl filled with water. The purpose is to clean the clams yourself. And out of surprise, the water became so muddy after we finished all this clams. ^-^
Curry Mee
We never try the curry mee there before. So hubby went and order one bowl of curry mee to try. And my gal is so eager to try. I told my gal that by the look of the curry mee, it must be very spicy and she told me no worry, she still wants to go ahead and try. So she did. And she enjoy it for the first few sip, then she started to complain that it is spicy.
Overall, the curry mee is not too bad and there are lots of ingredients too. And I found 2 small prawns too. ^-^
Bee Hoon Thn'g
My gal and hubby had bee hoon thn'g. Although from the look of the broth, it look tasteless, but the actual fact is the broth tastes nice. It is good for those who would like something light.
Koay Tiaw Thn'g
Duck Meat Slices with bean sprout
Hubby ordered another duck meat slices with bean sprout. Actually, I enjoyed their bean sprout very much. I asked hubby to ordered bean sprout for us but he go and add on duck slices too. The duck slices are very tender.

SG WANG SEAFOOD RESTAURANT @ Sungai Nibong, Penang

Would you like to have some "halal" foods with your Malay colleagues and friends? Whenever we have some Malay friends/colleagues, we always have some difficulty when choosing a venue as we have to choose place that is "Halal". And recently, I found a shop that is certified "Halal" in this restaurant which serve Chinese/Vietnamese and Thai Cuisine.
During our visit to Song Yen Seafood, we spotted this newly opened restaurant ~
SG WANG SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
Location: No. 8-10 Lebuh Nipah 5, 11900, Penang.
Tel: 04 - 6455368
It is located at the back row of Hai Nan Homecook Chinese Restaurant.
We are the first customer for the dinner session and we were directed to our seats. Then came the menu. They have quite lots of things to order from the menu. But since this is our first time there, we stick to some of the ordinary orders and some recommendation by the restaurant.
End up we ordered:
Bamboo Prawns ~ RM15
As we were told that this is one of the special dishes. The bamboo prawns tasted fresh and tasty and the sauces are not very spicy but my gal found it a bit too spicy for her though. So I ate most of the prawns by myself. ^-^
Kerabu Chicken ~ RM10
Actually hubby wants to try the kerabu fish but i insisted that he ordered the kerabu chicken as my gal would like to have some chicken. The chicken is deep fried and garnish with kerabu and sauce. The kerabu chicken is pretty normal that you can find in many places. And since hubby don't take deep fried foods so often, so my gal and I finished most by ourselves.
Stir fry french beans ~ RM8
Hubby and my gal love this dish very much. Perhaps this is also the first dishes being served, and they ate most of them but they reckon some part of the stir fry french beans is salty. But it is ok to go with rice.
Claypot Seafood Delight ~ RM25
This is hubby order as he would like to try out their claypot seafood delight. But this turn out to be a bit disappointment for us. As it is too watery. It is more like a soup. ^-^ Hubby comments that it is a bit blunt. But we scoop all the ingredients out and finished it and left all the soup behind. lol
Overall, their services are good, very attentive and also the environment is bright, clean and air conditioned. We did not try out the desserts since we were full with all the order but will go back next time to try them out. Our total bills are RM68.70 (including 3 plates of rice and 2 drinks)

Goh Teo Kee Restaurant @ Sungai Nibong, Penang

Today, I am going to posts about Teo Chew cuisine. We went to have someTeo Chew foods in June at
Goh Teo Kee Restaurant
Location: No.2 Jalan Bukit Kechil Satu, Taman Sri Nibong, 11900 Sungai Nibong, Penang.
Tel: 04-6465072
They have another branch at Sungai Ara but my family and I personally prefer this branch than the other. ^-^
Braised Peanuts ~ RM1.50
After we were seated we were served with this braised peanuts.
After browsing through the menu, hubby went and ordered the following foods:
Seaweed Fish Ball Soup ~ RM6
The seaweed soup is nice. I think my gal finished most of the soup.
Stir fry bean curd and leek with bean paste and prawn ~ RM9
Well, this is one of the dishes that you will find in Teo Chew cuisine. Overall, the dish is quite nice and not too salty.
Fry Cod fish with soya sauce ~ RM29
The waitress is asking us if we want to have some fish and since my gal wants to have fish, so hubby ordered the fry cod fish to try. And it turns out to be great. The outer part is very crispy.
My gal eats lots of it which is good as cod fish has important source of Omega 3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) and Vitamin A and D. So each time she is having cod fish, I will tell her, you eat lots of this, you will become very clever. So, she always eat as much as possible. ^-^
Curry Kapitan Spare Ribs ~ RM12
This is actually the first dish hubby ordered as he knew that I like curry kapitan very much. And the curry kapitan is quite nice. It has rich aroma. For the spare ribs it is very tender and juicy. It is not spicy for me though. So my gal gets to try this too. Her verdict is not bad. ^-^ As if she is like an expert.

Complimentary dessert ~ Green Bean with Sago Soup
This is the complimentary dessert for the day. Tastes ok but too sweet for my liking.
Steamed "O" Nee ~ Teo Chew Yam ~ RM12
This is one of the Teo Chew cusine desserts. Please ordered this when you placed your other orders as this take sometime to steam. But we ordered this when we about to finish our meal. So we waited quite sometime for this.
But we were glad that we waited. As this turn out to be nice. As it is not too sweet just perfect for our liking and furthermore, it is not so "jilat" in tastes. As previously, we tried the steamed "O" Nee in Goh Huat Seng Restaurant, their version is a bit rich. ^-^ But it depends on what kind of steamed "O" nee as different people have different requirement. ^-^ But however, I like the deep fried yam served in Goh Huat Seng restaurant.
****Please note that they are running some promotion there with the set meals, do check it out. ****

During one weekend outing, hubby suggesting us to have some Pan Mee @ Yee Hong Food Court. I have forgotten all about this place. Thanks to hubby to remind me about the Pan Mee Stall.
My gal insists that she wants to have some fried rice so hubby ordered her:
Fried Rice
And this turn out to be mine as it is a bit spicy for my gal. After few spoonful, she gave up. The fried rice is just so-so.

Pan Mee Soup
Hubby opts for the soup version of pan mee. I asked hubby whether his bowl of pan mee still have the QQ textures since it is immerse in the soup. And hubby told me that the textures still there and he enjoyed his bowl of pan mee very much and he finished very quickly that I don't even have the chance to try. ^-^
Special Chili Sauce for Pan Mee
Soup for the fry Pan Mee
I love the vegetables very much and usually hubby will always tell the owner to add more vegetables for me. ^-^ and the fish balls taste nice too.

Dry Pan Mee
My gal has to take my bowl of pan mee since she cannot take the spicy fried rice. And once she digs in, her eyes grow big. Do you know why? Well, she fall in love with it immediately as the textures of the Pan Mee is so nice and QQ.

Kedai Kopi Golden Happy @ Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Sungai Nibong, Penang

During one weekend, hubby want to have some chu char and he is running out of idea where to have some chu char that we have not tested. Then I recall this shop located at Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Sungai Nibong. Which are few shops before the Kedai Ayamas, Sungai Nibong.
The chu char stall provide us with a simple menu. Then we have a look and we ordered:
Stir fry bean sprout with salted vegetables ~ RM6
We enjoys this stir fry bean sprout very much although it is quite an easy dish.
Omelette (Fu Yong Tan) ~ RM6
Hubby ordered this for my gal but we found that it is a bit too salty to our liking.
Winter Melon Spare Ribs Soup ~ RM4
The soup is nice....... and the spare ribs is very tender. My gal drank most of this soup. ^o^
Stew Fermented Black Beans Spare Ribs ~ RM10
This is their special for the day. And out of surprise it is not salty at all. But i would prefer that if they can stew a bit longer so that the spare ribs will be more tender. ^o^
Total bill came to RM28.40 (including 3 rice). When you stop by this shop, you could try the other stall Beef Claypot Noodles. There are lots of people ordering it and it smells nice. And by the look of it the beef must be very tender. ^o^

Yipin Restaurant @ Sungai Nibong, Penang

Few months back when we finished our dinner at Wo Lai Yeh Cafe. And hubby drove passed this restaurant ~ Yipin. I told hubby about this restaurant and we are not sure whether it is a vegetarian restaurant or not. So we marked in down in our "Makan List".
And during one weekend, we decided to drop by this restaurant and check it out. When I entered this restaurant, it gives me some instinct that it is quite similar to another restaurant but I did not speak out.
Yipin Restaurant
Location: No. 7 Lorong Bukit Kecil, Sungai Nibong, 11900 Penang.
Tel: 04 - 6466480
Business Hour: 8.30am - 2.30pm and 6.00pm - 9.30pm
(Closed on every Monday)
After browsing through the menu, we make our ordered. After the person who took our order repeating what we had ordered for the night, hubby asked whether this restaurant just open lately. And he replied and told us that they have been operating since 2 years ago and they are just another branch of Plus 2 Restaurant.
Then...... I know..... my instinct is right. No wonder the table clothes are the same as Plus 2 Restaurant. ^o^
Seaweed Soup with Fish Ball and Straw Mushroom ~ RM4
The soup tastes very nice, even though is just an ordinary soup.
Marmite Chicken ~ RM9
Well.... this is one of their specialty. Sorry for the photos taken. ^o^ But don't know why, for some reason I still prefer Plus 2 Restaurant Marmite Chicken. I found that it is a bit different.
Stir fry asparagus with prawn, scallops and mushroom ~ RM20
We are quite disappointed with this dish as the asparagus is too old. And we would appreciate them to tell us that the condition of the asparagus and asked us to change another dishes. The person who cut the asparagus should know the asparagus is too old to be eaten when they doing the cutting. However, apart from the asparagus, the scallops taste nice.
Bean curd with dried scallops ~ RM6
It is a very normal dish but the bean curd tastes nice.
Overall.... the foods are not bad and the total bill are RM43.40 (including 3 rice + beverage + dishes).

Song Yen Seafood @ Sungai Nibong

As usual, we go out to search for new area to have our dinner, we decided to go for chu char. And we found this new place. The stall is located slightly opposite to Hai Nan HomeCook Chinese Restaurant @ Lebuh Nipah 5, Sungai Nibong.
We noticed this place few weeks ago when we went to had our lunch at Hai Nan HomeCook Restaurant (will post the review later). This chu char stall offers varieties of Chinese and Siamese style of cooking.
There are only a food stall and coffee shop operates at night.
The business hours start from 6pm -11pm and they closed on every Monday.
Song Yen Seafood
Since this is our first time of visit, we asked for recommendation. And the auntie recommends us:

Seafood Green Curry
You can either have just mainly fish slice with green curry or seafood curry. And we opt for seafood green curry. And since my gal loves curry recently. We order green curry for her to try. lol The curry is a bit too spicy for my gal and hubby but they love it.
There are lots of herbs in the curry and furthermore, there are lots of ingredients in there such as prawn, squids, fresh fish slice, long beans, fresh tomatoes, onion........
Their seafood is very fresh and tastes nice. lol

Stir Fry Cauliflower

Siam Pig Trotter
This is highly recommended by the auntie. So we give it a try. This is the first dish being served for the night. And when the dish being served, the aroma is unbeatable. hahhaha....... but poor hubby and my gal have to wait for me to take few shot of the photos b4 they can savour it.
The pig trotter skin is very crunchy. And the meat is very tender. All of us love it very much.
And we highly recommend this dish. lol
Auntie recommends us to come back and try their Siam bean curd and otak-otak being served in coconut as she told us that it is very delicious too.
We want to share this wonderful place with all of you as the foods being served are delicious and the price is very reasonable. The bill for the night is only RM35.60 + 3 white rice.
