Kedai Kopi Ban Leong Ean 万隆轩茶室 @ Lebuh Armenian, Penang.

Restaurant that we reviewed:

Kedai Kopi Ban Leong Ean 万隆轩茶室
Address: 59 Lebuh Armenian, Penang.

Food that we savour:

Curry Mee
For those who cannot take too spicy food, you can give this curry me a try. It's not too spicy for me. The curry soup base is very tasty with the addition of the chilies paste makes it more flavourable. Generous amount of fresh cockles, cuttlefish and fried tao pok.

Hokkien Mee
Actually we came for the hokkien mee and was surprise to see they do serve curry mee as well. Well, I have the try of the hokkien mee soup base which tastes very flavourable and has a nice prawn aroma. Overall, it's a nice place to have breakfast.

Xen Teck Cafe @ Pengkalan Weld, Penang.

Occasionally, we will head to Pengkalan Weld to have our breakfast during the weekend. We normally like to go there pretty early as if you come late, normally its hard to get some seats. I always think that I had blogged about this place long time ago as I have been patronising this place for many years.
Anyway, I took this opportunity to introduce you a place for breakfast. They have a great varieties of choice to choose from:

Food that we savour:

Koay Teow Th'ng
We quite enjoy the Koay Teow Soup. Love the broth which really nice and tasty. Occasionally. I will order their been hoon soup as we love the springy vermicelli textures. If you love springy type of vermicelli, please give this a try!

Char Koay Teow

Fried Rice
Char Koay Teow and the fried rice are from the same stall. Love their food from this stall as they cook the food with the exact wok heat (wok hei in Cantonese) needed. Not everytime you get to savour their fried rice if too early. Fried rice from this stall is my princess favorite.
I brought a few visitors here before and they really enjoyed the char Koay Teow from this stall compares to the other.
* Note: I think this stall have changed proprietor since my last visit. The taste has vary.
 Curry Mee
The curry mee here is also not bad. Have the rich aroma of curry. Quiet generous amount of ingredients in it.
Wantan Mee
Sometime I will opt for wantan mee when I wish to have some dry version of noodles. The noodles have a right texture. Not too soft.

 Hokkien Mee
The hokkien mee is also one of the popular dishes at this coffee shop. Have a nice soup base.
Bak Kut Teh
I like to enjoy a bowl of bak kut teh if we arrive pretty early in the morning. As sometime is very cool due to the seabreeze. With a cool weather and enjoy hot pipping bak kut teh is very enjoying for us.
I love their bak kut teh soup base and my princess will usually go for the meat ball.
Ban Chang Kuih
Whenever we visit this coffee shop, hubby never failed to order the ban chang kuih. Sometime he will order the normal type, sometime with peanut butter or with bananas. They have lot of choices to choose from but normally I will prefer the normal type or with extra peanuts.Overall, this is one of the favorite morning breakfast places as they have many local delicacies to choose from under one roof.

Mackerel Curry Fish Noodles @ Pinang Taste Seafood Restaurant- Lebuh Carnorvan, Penang.

While walking around Penang two weeks ago, we stumbled across this coffee shop while we were making a u - turn since the street was occupied with the morning markets.
The big red sign of Mackerel Curry Noodles catches our attention. So we decided to give this a try in our next food hunting trip.
According to the uncle, they just barely open for less than 2 months.
PINANG TASTE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
It is just located few shops away from Restoran Aik Hoe.

Mackerel Curry Fish Noodles
The mackerel being served in this bowl of curry noodles is very fresh. They did not deep fried it. Mostly I will have the deep fried mackerel fish. This is actually my first time trying the poached mackerel. Due to the freshness from the fish, it actually makes the bowl of Curry Mee more unique. On the table itself, they have a small containers filled with chilli paste. You can add the amount of chilli according to your tastes. The curry mee per bowl with the mackerel cost around RM6. They do sell curry mee without mackerel though. Just the standard curry Mee.
In the meantime, you will find the following art inside the coffee shop:

Yee Hong Food Court @ Sungai Nibong, Penang

Occasionally during the weekend, I will drop by Yee Hong to have my brunch. As I am too lazy to go down to town for breakfast. ^.^ Most of the time I will go for the pan mee, which I blog here before. But during one outing, feel like to have something different. So I browse through and I saw "Kuantan Road Curry Mee". So decided to have a try!

Kuantan Road Curry Mee Stall
Kuantan Road Curry Mee
The curry mee is white in colour when it were being served. After I took a shots of it, then I mix the paste into the curry. Viola! It turn out to be a fiery red colour curry mee. I thought that it would fiery spicy but lucky I still can accept the spiciness of the curry mee. The curry soup base have a nice fragrant and there are fair amount of ingredients added. The noodles were just nice.
Hokkien Mee
My sister is having this hokkien mee. And the verdict from her is not bad and has a nice prawn aroma in the soup base. She enjoys her bowl of hokkien mee very much.

Batu Lanchang Market, Penang

If you wonder where is FoOd PaRaDiSe? Why there is no post at all since February? And no blog hopping as well. ^-^ Well, I am kinda tied up with my work load and also the overseas trip for weeks. I still remember that I owned a blog here and not forgetting to "snap snap snap" while I "eat eat eat". So there will be some overseas review in my coming up posts.
Thank you for visiting my sites from time to time. And thank you for leaving comments. I am back now and hope to share with all of you more mouthful and delicious foods.
For a start, I will start with a short introduction to Batu Lanchang foods in the morning session. All the while I thought that Batu Lanchang market only serves food during lunch session but I only realised that my info were wrong. As during one morning last year, I happened to stop by Batu Lanchang to do some work. I realised that there are people and cars around Batu Lanchang Food Court. Out of curiosity after I have finished my job. I went there and check it out. And I saw some shops (Opposite to the KFC side) was opened for breakfast.
So I decided to go there and try out the breakfast the following weekend. I been there few times now. And there are several stalls serving, dim sum, roti bakar, half boiled eggs, assorted pau, nasi lemak, wantan mee, curry mee and also chicken rice.
I did not manage to try all the foods but I have try the following foods:

Wantan Mee
I am not sure why, since after the first trip there, my gal always ordered the wantan noodles when we dine in there for breakfast. My gal was telling me that she loves the textures of the noodles. I tried once and the noodles got its springy textures. Whenever I had noodles, I love springy textures than the soft and lumpy types texture.
My daughter and hubby always had the noodles and gave me all the wantan whenever they had wantan mee. I always told them that they should ordered the noodles without wantan. ^-^
Curry Mee
There is one stall selling curry mee in the morning session. I saw some tables are having curry mee and the bowl of curry mee that they are having looks fiercely red. So I decided to give it a try.
When the bowl of curry mee arrived, you will see the curry mee is actually white in colour and came with a spoonful of special red chillies paste.
After mixing up with the chili pastes, you can see the fiery red bowl of curry mee. It has a very strong fragrant of curry flavours as you could see from the photos that there are lots of santan (coconut milk) in there. If you like the rich santan curry noodles flavours you might like to give this a try.
Roti Bakar
Although this is not the famous roti bakar in town but we enjoy having it. As when the roti bakar arrived in our tables, it is still very hot and crunchy. My gal loves that and we always ordered some to share among us.
If you are just like me and not sure that there are morning session of hawker foods in Batu Lanchang, perhaps you can drop by and try it out. But please be reminded that there are only several stalls available in the morning session. There will be more stalls opening during lunch hours.

Genting Coffee Shop Part 1 @ Island Glades, Penang

This place is not a strangers to any one in Penang. As many floggers have blog about this place before. I decide to blog about this place in two parts. First, the lunch session and later the breakfast. ^-^
What can you get in Genting Coffee Shop during lunch time? I would say there are lot of choices to choose from.
Pork Leg Rice
Hubby always tell me that the rice is very popular and nice. He always pestering me to try this out. So one day, both of us decide to try this out! As I don't really like my rice to cover with very wet sauces. Lucky that this stall did not cover too much. Perhaps, hubby told him not to put too much sauces on my plate of rice. I would actually prefer to separate the sauce in a small bowl though. ^-^
Pork leg is very tender..... and tastes not bad for me. But I don't think that I can eat this all the time.
Hokkien Mee
Hubby ordered this for him. And he told me for a change, he went for instant noodles instead of the yellow noodles. He reckon that it tastes ok with instant noodles.
Curry Mee
My sister and I order this immediately after we had our seat. As sometime, it is hard to get a seat in this coffee shop. It is always full of people during lunch hour. And we are the lucky two as the last two bowls are the last. The next customers when and order were told that they have "sold off". This is the first time I try their curry mee. Hubby told me many times that the curry mee is not bad but have not had the chance to try it.
At first by the look of the curry noodles when being served, the appearance does not attract my attention at all. But since I ordered it, I have to finished it. So I start to tuck in after the photo shot. Hmm..... not bad wor.... after mix everything. That's my first comment on the curry mee. I finished everything and my sister like it too. But we missed our curry mee stall which no longer in operation. ^-^
Stir fry big fat noodles
Hubby order this for every one to share. And my mum comments that it is a bit tasteless. ^-^ It is quite a simple noodles just stir fry with some soya sauce but my sister and hubby loves the noodles textures.

Char Koay Teow
If you like a dry version type of CKT, you can give this stall a try! As the CKT tastes not bad. The "wok hei" is there and the prawn uses are fresh. I been to some CKT stall and some of the prawns used are not fresh. ^-^
Chee Cheong Fun
This is the highlight of this coffee shop. Many customers are flocking into this shop just to go for the CCF. And many from outstation. Usually, you will see customers waiting by the stalls just to wait for the take away.
Few months ago, my gal is so addicted with CCF. And every Saturday, you will see my hubby went there to take away for our little princess. She loves to tuck in her favorites CCF after her Art Class every week as her Snack. This been going on for many weeks. At last, one day she told her daddy that she would like to stop having CCF for a change. Phew..... just a release for hubby and I as we no longer need to travel to and fro. lol
But all of us enjoy having this CCF for long long time. Even my MIL always mention about this stall CCF when she craving for one. ^-^ The textures of the CCF is nice and loves the sauces.

Dhoby Ghaut Cafe @ Sungai Nibong, Penang

It has been a long time that I did not visit this shop. We tend to forget this shop. And during one dinner, we decided to drop by this restaurant and do a review about this. As I think I never blog about this shop before.
After we were seated, I looked around and saw the business hour, which start from 7.00pm till 2.00am. Then I told hubby that next time we know where to get supper when there are visitors visiting us. As sometime, we had visitor arrived late at night. Please reminded that the shop closed on Monday.
Location: 247H, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Sungai Nibong, Penang.
(It is at the back of Goh Teo Kee Restaurant ~ Sungai Nibong Branch)
Since we arrived early and the KTT stall owner is still preparing it, so hubby go and order some flower clams.

Flower Clams
What good about this stall is, they came with a small stainless steel bowl filled with water. The purpose is to clean the clams yourself. And out of surprise, the water became so muddy after we finished all this clams. ^-^
Curry Mee
We never try the curry mee there before. So hubby went and order one bowl of curry mee to try. And my gal is so eager to try. I told my gal that by the look of the curry mee, it must be very spicy and she told me no worry, she still wants to go ahead and try. So she did. And she enjoy it for the first few sip, then she started to complain that it is spicy.
Overall, the curry mee is not too bad and there are lots of ingredients too. And I found 2 small prawns too. ^-^
Bee Hoon Thn'g
My gal and hubby had bee hoon thn'g. Although from the look of the broth, it look tasteless, but the actual fact is the broth tastes nice. It is good for those who would like something light.
Koay Tiaw Thn'g
Duck Meat Slices with bean sprout
Hubby ordered another duck meat slices with bean sprout. Actually, I enjoyed their bean sprout very much. I asked hubby to ordered bean sprout for us but he go and add on duck slices too. The duck slices are very tender.

Hwa Pin @ Church Street, Penang

After go through Lingzie blog post where she introduce the delicious pancake @ Church Street, I told hubby about that. And hubby told me ok, when we free we go and try it. So in the first attempt we went there during Sunday (after checking Lingzie posts, I just realise that it is close on Sunday. Business hour is from Monday to Saturday ~ Morning till 2pm) and we could not find it as we over shoot it and some one at the back of the car seat is grumbling that she is very hungry. So we did not go for the second search as need to fill up the "hungry monster" tummy first. lol
Then during one weekday when hubby is on leave, we went there and have a look. Actually the place is very easily spotted. But during the first visit, we did not pay attention. ^-^ Actually, once after you turn from Beach Street to Church Street, the coffee shop ~ Hwa Pin is situated on the second building on your left. Hwa Pin Coffee Shop is few shops away from Pinang Peranankan Mansion and Eng Loh Coffee Shop.
Hwa Pin
Since we went there to have breakfast and not sure what the shop offers as from Lingzie posts, I saw some set lunch offer by the coffee shop. So once seated, we have a look and decided to order:
Curry Mee
This is my order since I saw there is one stall selling curry mee, so I give it a try. From the first impression when I look at this bowl of curry mee, I thought the taste must be awful from the color of the curry soup base. But after start to dig in, hmm...... not that bad. It is something different from the other curry mee that I had before. The chili paste used is something different. And if you like the curry with rich santan, then this would be your choice.

Lor Mee
Hubby had this and actually his bowl of lor mee came first. After snap snap snap, hubby dig in. His verdict is the lor mee is not bad. ^-^

Banana and Raisin Pancake
The highlight for this post would be the "Banana and Raisin Pancake". This is the main thing I came here for. ^-^ Hubby is the first one to try it as you know usually who took the photograph will be the last to dig in. lol Once hubby tasted, he is so excited and told me, "This is great, very juicy raisin and have a very nice banana aroma. Crunchy some more. You will surely love this!".
After hearing that, off course I quickly tried it out and yes, he is right, I love it. Love the texture of the pancake and also the aroma. Actually I just seated next to the auntie who sell this pancake and I saw the making of the pancake just beside me. But too bad, I did not take any photos of it. ^-^ I would recommend that you to try this pancake if you love this type of pancake. lol
***Updated 23.09.2009, I was informed by Lingzie that the pancake auntie moved again. We still not sure where she moved. But will keep updated if found her. ^-^ ***
