Food Hunt @ Kampung Benggali, Butterworth

During one weekend during December, we went over to Butterworth to do some shopping and food hunt. And since I heard lots about the famous "Koay Tiaw Th'ng" @ Restoran May Fong, we decided to give it a try! When we arrived @ the restoran is almost 2.45pm but still there are lot of customers. We are fortunate and able to manage to get a seat for 3 of us as we heard people said the shop is always full house and need to wait for you to get a seat. lol
Restoran May Fong
Location: 4274 Jalan Kampong Benggali,Butterworth, Penang.
Opening Hours: 10.15am - 6.00pm
Tel: 04- 3314109
Since we had our lunch earlier so we decided to try some of their foods as following:
Oyster Chicken
The chicken is very tender and tastes nice. But I still prefer the one serve in Leng Jie Chicken Porridge and Rice.
Vegetables with oyster sauce
Since they also offer vegetables, we decided to get one. End up most of the vegetables is eaten by my gal. lol
Next..... we order two types of koay teow ~ dry and soup version.
Chicken Koay Teow
This is the dry version. The shredded chicken sprinkle on top of the koay teow is actually from the oyster chicken dish. The koay teow is simmered in the tasty soup. The soup is cook with chicken bones, fresh prawns, cuttlefish and anchovies for few hours. So when you tastes the soup base, you will realise that it has a very strong prawn flavours.
The koay teow is scalded in hot water and blend with bean sauce and sesame oil. Then the tasty chicken koay teow is being served. Yum! Yum!
Chicken Koay Teow Soup
My gal loves the soup very much as it is very sweet in flavours. And not to mention the koay teow is very smooth too.

Since I am posting foods around Kampung Benggali, I decided to combine Bee See Heong Restaurant to this blog posting since it is locate so near to each other. I went through my old blog entry and found this. And we went to this restaurant during May 2008. (Sorry for the following photos as it is captured using my hand phone)
Location: 4166 Jalan Kampung Benggali, 13200 Butterworth.
Opening Hours: 11.30am - 2.00pm (Lunch), 6.00pm - 9.00pm (Dinner)
Tel: 604 - 3238701

Fried Fish in Spicy Garlic Sauce
wow...... this is one of the EXCELLENT dishes offer by the restaurant. Although it is a very simple dish but it really tastes great. My gal loves it very much. The fish is very crunchy outside and juicy inside. Although it is a bit spicy for my gal but she still can't resist to keep eating it. :D
Curry Prawns
The curry prawns are seasoned with Indian species but cook in Chinese style. This is a bit like fusion. lol Hubby found it a bit spicy for him, as for me, it tastes not spicy at all. lol But we love this dish. It tastes great. It has a very nice aroma. We were served with 4pcs of medium size prawn.
Stir-fried bean sprouts with salted fish and small chillies
Very simple dish but tastes great. However, if you cannot take spicy food, please aware of the small chillies.
Stir Fry Kai Lan with pork
Overall, the foods are great and we don't have to wait for too long even though the restaurant is almost full house @ 1pm. And the price is very very cheap. It cost us RM34 (including 3 big plates of rice & Chinese tea for 3 persons).
