Air Itam Hawker Food @ Jalan Bukit Bendera, Penang.

Today, I am going to blog about hawker food along Jalan Bukit Bendera at Air Itam. It is not hard to locate. It is just next to the Air Itam round about. They start operation from 12 noon. We stumble into this place when we have to stop by that area to settle some of our things. After we finished settle everything, here comes our food hunt.
During our visit, we manage to try most of the foods there except for the "Mee Rebus", "Mee Goreng" and  Pasembur Stall. However, I get to try the "Cucur Udang" from their stall but sorry no photo as I take away and had that on my way back home.
Things that we savour are:

Penang Laksa
Actually, I am not the fan of Laksa. Which they always claimed that ladies favour laksa all the time. However, my princess and hubby are the laksa gang. Both of them love laksa very much. My daughter always claim that because she is "Penang Lang" that's why favour of Penang Laksa.
And she only favours of the laksa noodles and soup only.
This Penang Laksa stall has a fragrant laksa broth. I cannot resist the aroma and get to savour some from my hubby laksa.

Hillside Ah Soon Char Koay Teow, Tanjung Bungah, Penang.

AH SOON CAFE
If you are not familiar with the Hillside at Tanjung Bungah then this would be another "makan" place for afternoon session. As this place operates from 11am to 7pm except Tuesday (Closed).
This has became one of the tea break or late lunch places whenever we are nearby this area. They offer some varieties of food such as :
Hillside Ah Soon Char Koay Teow, Tanjung Bungah, Penang.
Toasted bread with butter and kaya
Sometime we will order this as the bread always toasted to crunchy texture.

 Char Mee

Char Koay Teow
You can opt for no egg in your char mee, char instant noodles or char koay teow which will cost you RM4.50 only. If with egg, it will cost you RM5 per plate and for the big served, it will cost RM7.50 per plate.

Koay Teow Thn'g - RM4
Sometime I will choose to have the Koay Teow Th'ng which has a generous of fish balls, fish cake slice and also pork slice and vegetables. However, the soup base is a bit mild in tastes. If you like the thickening soup base of person then this might not be your choice.

FoOd PaRaDiSe verdict:

It is quite a nice place for a quick grab. However, sometime you might face full house normally over the weekend. It is operated as a family business. All the family members are very friendly. All of the char koay teow, char mee and char instant noodles are using charcoal fire to cook. And cook will change from time to time.

OH LAY EE Hokkien Mee @ Presgrave Street Ghaut, Penang.

If my hubby did not bring me to this Hokkien Mee shop, I think I will never get to know this Hokkien Mee stall. It is actually not hard to find this place.
They operate as early as 5am in the morning till 11:40am only. They closed on every Tuesday and also 1st and 15th of Chinese calender.
When I arrived, it was about 7:30am and was almost full house but we managed to get a small table by ourselves.

FoOd PaRaDiSe verdict:

The hokkien mee broth is very fragrant and tastes delicious. Each table they place a bottle of chili. If you want more spiciness, you can add more chilies paste. This is good for someone who cannot take too spicy food. They can just adjust the amount of chilies paste to suits their taste buds. Both with and without chilies paste taste great. The services are very good and the owner are very friendly too!

It has been many years that we did not savour the Koay Teow Th'ng from this shop. During one early outing over the weekend, we decided to pay for a visit.

FoOd PaRaDiSe verdict:

Hubby did not expect that the Bee Hoon Th'ng is full of ingredients. He ordered big size of thin and thick bee hoon soup for him and my princess as they were super hungry. But when the foods are being served, both of their eye grow big. It is really a huge serve with lot of ingredients on it. I am lucky that I had the small size of Koay Teow Th'ng. But still I think it has generous ingredients. The total cost of this meal is RM26.40.
