Goh Huat Seng (Chu Char) @ Lebuh Kimberley, Penang (revisit)

On and off we will stop by to Goh Huat Seng for some comfort foods. I still remembered my first trip to this restaurant. It's about 8 years ago. My mother in law (MIL) brought me there with great grandma, hubby's aunt and uncle. We had lunch there. And my MIL ordered us so many different dishes. And their steamboat is also one of my hubby favourite foods. This lead me to think of going back for their charcoal steamboat soon. ^-^
During our visit, we had a quick dinner with my sister in law (SIL) as we were in the hurry to settle something after the meal. So we order some simple dishes such as
Seaweed Fish Ball Soup
My gal loves the soup and not sure how many bowl of soup she had on that day. She told me she loves the fish ball too as it is in springy form.

Braised Duck and pork intestines
The braised dick is very tender. I love the way they cut the braised duck. It is cut into thinly sliced. It is easy for kids and the elderly.

Deep Fried Fish
Although it is just a simple deep fried fish but it is such a comfort foods for all of us. And my gal enjoys easting the fish since it is less bone intact. ^-^
Stir fry bean curd with leeks, prawn and mushroom
This dish can be easily found in most of the Teochew Cuisine. Sometime my mother in law also cooks this for us. Loves the bean curd as it is crunchy in the outer layer and soft inside.

Goh Teo Kee Restaurant @ Sungai Nibong, Penang

Today, I am going to posts about Teo Chew cuisine. We went to have someTeo Chew foods in June at
Goh Teo Kee Restaurant
Location: No.2 Jalan Bukit Kechil Satu, Taman Sri Nibong, 11900 Sungai Nibong, Penang.
Tel: 04-6465072
They have another branch at Sungai Ara but my family and I personally prefer this branch than the other. ^-^
Braised Peanuts ~ RM1.50
After we were seated we were served with this braised peanuts.
After browsing through the menu, hubby went and ordered the following foods:
Seaweed Fish Ball Soup ~ RM6
The seaweed soup is nice. I think my gal finished most of the soup.
Stir fry bean curd and leek with bean paste and prawn ~ RM9
Well, this is one of the dishes that you will find in Teo Chew cuisine. Overall, the dish is quite nice and not too salty.
Fry Cod fish with soya sauce ~ RM29
The waitress is asking us if we want to have some fish and since my gal wants to have fish, so hubby ordered the fry cod fish to try. And it turns out to be great. The outer part is very crispy.
My gal eats lots of it which is good as cod fish has important source of Omega 3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) and Vitamin A and D. So each time she is having cod fish, I will tell her, you eat lots of this, you will become very clever. So, she always eat as much as possible. ^-^
Curry Kapitan Spare Ribs ~ RM12
This is actually the first dish hubby ordered as he knew that I like curry kapitan very much. And the curry kapitan is quite nice. It has rich aroma. For the spare ribs it is very tender and juicy. It is not spicy for me though. So my gal gets to try this too. Her verdict is not bad. ^-^ As if she is like an expert.

Complimentary dessert ~ Green Bean with Sago Soup
This is the complimentary dessert for the day. Tastes ok but too sweet for my liking.
Steamed "O" Nee ~ Teo Chew Yam ~ RM12
This is one of the Teo Chew cusine desserts. Please ordered this when you placed your other orders as this take sometime to steam. But we ordered this when we about to finish our meal. So we waited quite sometime for this.
But we were glad that we waited. As this turn out to be nice. As it is not too sweet just perfect for our liking and furthermore, it is not so "jilat" in tastes. As previously, we tried the steamed "O" Nee in Goh Huat Seng Restaurant, their version is a bit rich. ^-^ But it depends on what kind of steamed "O" nee as different people have different requirement. ^-^ But however, I like the deep fried yam served in Goh Huat Seng restaurant.
****Please note that they are running some promotion there with the set meals, do check it out. ****

SP Food Hunt Part 2
This restaurants is a very old restaurants in SP. This restaurant is in business for more than thirty over years. When my hubby was a kid, he already patronize this shop. I have been to this shop once and I have a very deep impression of this shop as they served their rice in a steam bowl. But unfortunately when we went there they already sold out. So we just had the normal type. lol
Restoran Bee Ah Tong (Marbrown)

Entrance of the Restaurant
By the time we finished our lunch is around 2pm but we still see lots of people patronize this shop. lol
This restaurant got two types of sitting - air conditioning room and normal. From the photo you can see the air condition room is on the left hand corner, the air condition room has around 5-6 tables.
While we were there we bumped into my hubby relatives and we were busy chatting away and hubby do the ordering. And hubby orders:

Stir fry beancurd with leeks and prawns
This is one of the teochew dishes. And the beancurd is very tasty.

Steam fish with beanpaste and chillies
The fish is very fresh and all of us love the bean paste as it does not taste salty at all.

Kam Hiong Chicken
The kam hiong chicken tastes very tender and nice aroma but we found that it is a bit too salty for our liking. But it has a very nice aroma.

Deep fried prawn
I think hubby orders this for the two little gals. And it tastes very crunchy and the prawn is very fresh.

Egg omelettes with prawn
I am so surprised to hear from my gal that the egg omelette is very delicious. Usually she hardly comments on egg dishes. When she saw this photos, she told me she would like to have this omelette again next time when we dine in this restaurant. lol
Overall....... the foods taste nice and this helps to bring back old memories of my hubby, MIL and hubby aunt.
Stay tune for another posts of the food hunt in SP. :P

Steamed "O" Nee
Last visit we did not get the chance to try out this as I only saw that after our dinner and we were told that we need to wait for 15-20 minutes to be ready. So, this time, we order it b4 we start our steamboat.
Hmm..... I prefer the deep fried "O" Nee. This steamed "O" Nee is not too bad and they included water chestnut and gingko in it. But it make you feel full after a few spoon. LOL
Well...... everybody enjoyed the steamboat and every one is very full after the meal. LOL

Their eggs are very firm.......sometime you get lumpy type of loh egg but not this shop.
