O & N Cafe Shop @ Green Lane, Penang

Sorry that I am unable to update my blog so frequently these days as been quite busy but I promised that I will try to blog one or two blog once a week. My draft folder is going to be full if I kept postponed. ^-^
During one outing last month, we decided to try "Chu Char" again since my gal wants to have some rice for the night. So we recall that there is one shop in Green Lane that offers some "chu char" so we decided to give it a try! The shop is
O & N CAFE SHOP
Business hour: 4 - 10.30pm (Close Thursday)
It is located in the same row as Mutiara Selera. (Next to Sports Toto Shop)
There are lists of foods that they wrote on the white board inside the shop and also in front of the shops. And After browsing through and recommendation from the person who took our order. We order the following foods:
Watercress Soup
If you follow my blog for quite some time, you will noticed that I always ordered this soup as my gal fond of this soup very much. And the size of the soups are very big. It seems like it will be no ending of soup as I kept scoop scoop scoop and there are still more. lol
Stir fry vegetables with garlic
When this vegetables dish being serves, my first impression is like.... hmmm....this must be so-so. But after I tasted..... hmm... not bad leh... the vege taste so fresh. And hubby also reckon that it tastes nice.
Pai Kut Ong
Ah...., first of all look at the serving plate. Nowadays, it's hard to see this kind of plate being served in the restaurant. ^-^
As for the foods, the pai kut ong is very tender and juicy. It tastes quite nice and my gal enjoying it very much.
Curry Kapitan Chicken
Ah.... this dish is under "Today Special" list. And we were recommend to have a try! So we order this. This turn out to be quite nice. Chicken is very tender and the curry Kapitan is rich of aroma.
Overall, the foods are very reasonable cheap. It cost us RM28 for all the above dishes and 3 plates of white rice.
At first when we entered the shop we saw not much customers around but half way through our meal, we saw lots of customers visiting this shop. So a piece of advice is to go early and avoid the long waiting time.

Chu Char next to Shell Station along Pengkalan Weld, Penang

Whenever we passed by this chu char stall next to the Shell Petrol Station in Pengkalan Weld, it is always full of people. Especially when it is at dinner time. So hubby and I marked down this place in our "makan list" for quite some time. Then during one weekend, my gal wanted to have chu char, so we decided to give it a try.
We are not sure what they are offering and ask for some recommendation and we ended with the following dishes:
Watercress Soup
Ah....... when there are watercress soup, my gal will automatically asked for one. And the watercress soup is very nice. As usual, my gal consumed most of this.
Stir fry vegetables with garlic

Deep Fried Promfret with BBO sauce
When hubby heard that they have deep fried promfret with BBQ sauce.....he looked at me and I knew that he wanted to try. As we never try the deep fried fish with BBQ sauce. Well.... the texture and freshness of the fish is very nice and indeed delicious. As for the sauce, my gal found it a bit spicy for her.

Tom Yam Bean Curd
This is one of their famous dishes according to the auntie that take our order. And since we never try tom yam bean curd before, we decided to try. Actually we are so curious to find out what is that. If you are fond of lots of herbs, combination of tom yam and bean curd, then you will sure to savor this dish. However, we found that the aroma is too strong for us. ^-^

Song Yen Seafood ~ Part 2

Since the last visit to Song Yen Seafood, we were told by the auntie to go back and try their other foods. And since my MIL and hubby auntie came over with the niece, we decide to bring them to try it out. Another motive is to order more dishes to try and share with my readers. ^-^
First hubby ordered:
2 different flavours fish
Hubby wanted to order this in our previous visit but was told that it was too big for just 3 of us. ^-^ So this time round, hubby have the opportunity to order this and try........
Closed up version of the deep fried fish with Thai sauces
They found that it is very spicy but yet very nice aroma.
Stir fry vegetables with deep fried fish fillet
They prefer the spicy version than this as they like the aroma of the spicy version.
Next, hubby ordered:
3 cup chickens
Since there are 2 kids dinning with us, we need to ordered something not spicy. And the 3 cup chickens tastes nice and the kids love it very much. As the chicken is very crispy outside and tender inside. And there are lots of basil aroma in this pot of 3 cups chicken.
Seafood Otak
Close up of seafood otak
This is one of the dishes that the auntie recommended. And the seafood otak tastes not bad. And we enjoy the young coconut flesh. It is very cooling. It goes well with the seafood otak. But not every one will enjoyed this dish though as some cannot stand the herbs use in the seafood otak. End up my MIL, hubby's aunt and me are the one who finished it as hubby don't really enjoy having otak-otak.
Watercress Soup
My gal eyes grow big when she heard that they have watercress soup as she loves this soup very much. So she suggests us to have this soup rather than the other kind of soups. ^-^ And the soup tastes nice and I think the 2 kids finished the soup.
Thai Style Tofu
This is also another recommended dish by the auntie. And the tofu is home made and tastes nice. Especially when it is coated with some spicy sauce.
Do drop by the stall when you feel like having some chu - char. And the total bill for the night is RM66.80 with 5 bowl of rice.
