Dragon - i Restaurant Sdn. Bhd @ Gurney Plaza, Penang.

It's been quite a while that we did not drop by Dragon-i. Since we need to run some errands @ Gurney Plaza, we decided to get dinner there.
Actually this is the first time we had Dragon-i @ Gurney Plaza.

Food that we savour:

Braised Peanuts - RM2/plate
四喜烤䴲 - RM10
This is one of the cold dishes that we ordered. We love it very much. Really missed our month long holiday in China few years back. We get to try different types of Chinese cuisine.
镇江烤肋骨 - RM35
The spare ribs is very tender and the sauce is very appetising.
蒜香粉皮肉 - RM18
This is another favourite. Love the thin noodles that came with it. The pork slice itself is very tender and great in flavours.
四川酸菜鱼片 - RM38
Although its stated as schezuan style of cooking but it is not too spicy for me. Have tried more spicier schezuan food than this.
The fish slice is very smooth but it is not my favourite dish. I still prefer the cold dish.
雙菇木耳炒芥兰 - RM28
上海小笼包 - RM11.50
Kinda miss the Shanghai dumpling that we savour back in Shanghai. This dumpling is still delicious.

Beverages that we ordered:

自制豆浆- RM4.50
菊花杞子 - RM10/ Tea pot

FoOd PaRaDiSe verdict:

Overall, the food is still maintaining their flavours. When we missed food from China, this would be one of our choices restaurant to dine in.
The services were very attentive. We were well taking care during our visit.

THE BARN @ Gurney Plaza, Penang

During one of our visits to Gurney Plaza, we decided to try out "THE BARN" which it is located at GP-170-G-43. Contact number: 04-2290967.
We have total of six persons dine in during our visit. After we browsing through the menu, all of my guests and hubby knew what to order except me. So I ask for some suggestion from the waiter and he suggest to me to take THE BARN famous pork ribs which they claimed it to be one of the famous dishes. Actually he did suggest me beef but I am not taking any beef so I opt for the ribs.
Before I elaborate more towards the food, let me brief you with the interior. Restaurant is fill with different kind of wines. The interior lighting is a bit like place for a drink.

Beverages that we consume:

However, we did not order any alchohol but we opt for for some coffee instead:
Cappuccino
Ice Latte

Food that we consume:

Caramelised roasted pork burger - RM27.26
One of my guests is having this and she claimed that the roast pork burger was nice.
The BARN famous pork pizza - RM32.90
Hubby opt for the pizza and decided to order the famous pizza from the house. Hubby did not quite enjoyed the pizza as he is not used to the cheese that used.
Crispy Pork Spaghetti - RM31.02
My gal is having this and she had the difficulty with the crispy pork as she claimed that it is a bit too tough on the crispy part of the pork.
Crispy Pork Penne - RM31.02
BBQ baby back pork ribs - RM55.46
At the end my sister in law and I were having this. As the one she ordered was out of stock. She reckon that the pork ribs she had is a bit tough and had difficulty cutting it.
However mine is not too bad but I would agree that the pork ribs are slightly too dry to our likings.
Actually before ordered this ribs I did asked the waiter how big was the serve and I was told that it is for one person. It is actually good for 2 persons I think. If we knew the serve is that big we could had share. Luckily, my hubby helped out with the ribs.
Overall, the services are very attentive. Whoever finished their food, the waiter or waitress will come to clear your plates and drinks.

Kozue Japanese Restaurant (revisit) @ Gurney Plaza, Penang

This is a back dated post. Which is sitting in my draft for many months. As I been busy this year and have not much time to spare for food blogging. And since it is a school holiday right now, I told myself, I need to spare myself sometime to do some blogging. ^0^
Recently, one of my friend asked me to recommend her some Japanese foods. After much thinking, I suggested her to try out Kozue since she shop at Gurney quite often and also with 3 kids tag along, I think it would be nice that she could try out.
This is our second visit to this place, for the first visit, you can refer to here.

Aspara Bacon ~ RM5
After he first visit, hubby loves the food. So we decided to go back again to try out other foods. This time round, we get Ms. Ivy to recommend us some foods. And she recommend that we try aspara bacon which we love it very much. It's a wrap of asparagus with bacon in a skewer. If you take beef, then I suggest that you try out their beef skewer as well.
Grilled Fish ~ RM58
This dish was not in the menu. We only knew that they offer this dish while chatting away with Ivy. If you remembered that in my first visit post, in the menu which there are so many question marks on it? Which means that there are special meals available every day. Which you have to ask them. Their every day meal changes every day. And we were glad that we have the chance to try upon the grilled fish. It was nicely done and the fish has a rich aroma and textures.
There are additional sauces to go with you. But I prefer the ordinary aroma from the fish. Both hubby and I think that it is best to dig in with its original aroma. However the sauces are nice too. It is make of vinegar.
Traditional Japanese Braised Pork Intestines ~ RM15
This is another dish that we try on that day. We were told that this is the traditional Japanese foods. Well, it seems like the same as our Chinese braised pork intestines but the sauce uses is different. The pork intestines are very tender. Hubby loves it very much.

Yaki Udon ~ RM17
Hubby would like to try their udon. So he order yaki udon to try it out.
Unagi Don
My gal loves unagi very much. Therefore, she ordered the unagi don for herself.
Goma Ice-cream ~ RM7
Before we wrap up our meal, we decided to try out their ice-cream as recommend by my friends. And we are glad that we try out their ice-cream. As it has a very rick black sesame flavours on it.

Invited Review ~ Gelatissimo @ Gurney Plaza, Penang

Today..... I would like to share something sweet..... desserts....... with my readers.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jason and Gill Gill for organising this "excursion" for a small group of bloggers. And thanks to Mr. Hong for explaining to us the differences of ice-cream and gelato. Which I will elaborate more in the following. It is nice of Mr. Hong to show us the step by step of gelato making. And we learn something from this "excursion". I think each of us who attend this "excursion" enjoyed themselves.
Gelatissimo
If you shop often in Gurney Plaza, I am sure that you knew the existence of Gelatissimo. But some of my friend are not aware of this shop as this shop is located at Ground Floor-45A, Gurney Plaza, Penang. Tel: 604-2280822
However, if you are in KL, they also have two other outlets in The Gardens and 1-Utama.
Outlook of Gelatissimo outlet
History of Gelatissimo
Actually before I went to the review, I done some research on Gelato. This is not my first attempt on Gelato. The first time I try Gelato is in Melbourne, Australia. We always enjoy having Gelato in Lygon Street, Melbourne. As Lygon street is famous for it's Italian Cuisine. If you stop by Melbourne, remember to stop by there to try out their foods.
However, in Penang, this is my second attempt. As I tried the Gelato in Maxim Cake Shop before. But this is the first time to see the making of gelato step by step. ^-^
You want to know more about the history of gelato, please click here.
Seating areas
They also have one cute little seating areas for the kids.
Ok back to the topic of gelato. What is the difference between gelato and the common ice-cream?
Gelato has:
1. Less fats (less than 8%) than common ice-cream (around 16% to 30%),
2. Less air content, which means, when the gelato machine whipped gelato, there are almost no air going into the gelato.
3. Thus produce rich texture and dense consistency of the gelato = richer creamier taste.
4. Make from all natural ingredients (eg. fruits).
All the fruits uses in Gelatissimo are from Australia. Like one of the popular mango gelato are using Australia home grown mango and not our local mangoes. ^-^ Same as the banana gelato too!
Following are some of the gelato photos that I tooked from the shop:
Different flavors of Gelato
More flavors........

This is the end product of gelato where we saw the process of making. And we had the chance to taste the gelato directly out from the machine. ^-^ The taste is fantastic!!!! I don't mind to have more, I guess most of the bloggers will agree with me, right?
Gelatissimo Mango Shake
This is our testing cups. It is so cute! And I enjoyed the mango shake very much and it would be better off, if there are more mangoes in there. ^-^ As I am the mangoes fans. ^-^

We were honoured to try out their affogato. They use the famous freshly grounded illy coffee and top with Biscotti Gelato. I quite enjoy the affogato. It is a nice place to sit down with a cup pf affogato and chit chat with friends. ^-^

There are more than 50++ gelato offers in Gelatissimo @ Gurney Plaza. Some of the flavours are: Mangoes, Green Tea, Belgium Chocolate, Chili Chocolate, Blood Orange & Passion fruit, Rum & Raisins, Chocolate Mint, Apple, Banana, Wild Chery and more.........
We wrap up the day by taking the photos of the management and staff of Gelatissimo @ Gurney Plaza. Whenever you passed by Gelatissimo, you will surelt heard the staff greeting you with "hello....... hello...... hello....." I think we run out counting how many times they greet people who passed by Gelatissimo. All the management and staff are very friendly and they are happy to recommend you which type of gelato to get. And they even let you sample some of their gelato too!
