Penang Street Roti Jala & Roti Jala @ Penang Street, Penang.

Actually, in Penang there are lot of stalls situated in different streets in Penang.
During one weekday morning, hubby and I drop by Penang street to savour some local delicacies. We stopped by:
Penang Street Famous Roti Canai and Roti Jala
Preparing Roti Canai in action
Roti kosong
Hubby normally will tell them to make the roti kosong "garing". As we preferred very crispy textures.
Roti Canai Bawang Telur
Sometime I will opt for roti telur but at this stall its serves with onion as well. The texture of the roti telur served here is very crispy too!
Apart from the roti canai, roti canai bawang telur, they also serve roti Jala. But unfortunately we were quite full and did not ordered that for a try!
Next to the Penang Street Famous roti canai and roti Jala, they serve Nasi Lemak, drinks, bread toast and egg.

Nasi Lemak
While we were there, they just started to serve the hot pipping Nasi Lemak. That's why we can't resist to give it a try. They are so generous with their nasi lemak sauce. Quite a good try with this stall nasi lemak.
I just love the simple Nasi Lemak ingredients - sauce ( Nasi Lemak sauce), egg, peanuts and anchovies.
Teh Tarik
We usually will order the tea with less sugar. The tea served here is pipping hot with a nice tea and spice aroma. I believed that they serve us masala tea.
They also served ginger milk, milk and coffee as well.
Overall, hubby and I enjoyed our early morning at this stall. And we were fortunate as when we about to leave, there are lot of customers flocking in. Most I believed were those who worked nearby Penang street.

Sarkies Corner @ E & O Hotel, Penang.

It's been quite a long time that I did not blog about Sarkies Corner. The last time I blog about them was few years back, where their's buffet was still at Sarkies Corner. Review can be viewed here. As for now all the buffets were moved to new wings - Sarkies.
Today, I am going to blog about Sarkies Corner. But this time I am going to elaborate more about "The Bakery", Weekend Local Specialties and some of the ala carte menu.

SARKIES CORNER - THE BAKERY

The bakery is just located on your right at the entrance of the Sarkies Corner.

This choc banana cake has a very rich banana flavours. If you are banana lovers, you will love this. The chocolate itself does not really empower the banana flavours. I like the white chocolate coated nuts on top of it. It is very crunchy and nice as well.

Their Tiramisu is a bit special. As the outer part of the Tiramisu is cover with layer sponge cake. The layer sponge cake consists of different spices. Which remind me about the Indonesia layer cake. Something different and special.

The dark choc mousse will attract those who loves dark chocolate. I think I can classify myself as the dark chocolate lover category of person. The chocolate use in this cake is imported from overseas. My gal told me that it is not too bitter nor sweet. She said she loves it. Guess may be can order this for her birthday cake this year.

I was told that their roasted chicken and duck rice are on of their famous best sellers food. After I tried it, indeed I am agreed with them. While writing this post right now, I still cannot forget the chicken and duck meat. It is very tender and juicy. hmm...... perhaps I am going back soon over the weekend to fulfill my wish. Hahahahhahahah.......

I am actually not the popiah fan. But the popiah is quite nice and as for pie tee, it is very crunchy at the outer part and inside it is very juicy. My friends just put all that into their mouth in one go. They said its nice with the combination at one go.

Sim Food Court @ Jalan Tengah, Penang

It's been quite a while that I did not patronise the hawker stalls at Jalan Tengah. I used to stay nearby there and I could remember that most of the time I will visit the hawker centre and had my breakfast, lunch or dinner there. But after since I moved many years back, I hardly went there for any meals.
Recently, I noticed that there are some new stalls operating in the hawker centre. So we decided to give it a try to some of the new stalls. There are still some existing stalls there. Like the "Mee Jawa" stall. But mainly I will blog about new stalls.
The first stall is the newly operated stall which sell "Sarawak Laksa" and "Sarawak Kam Pua". I hardly spot this stall as since it is new and not much people knew about this stall. I only spotted this after I ordered some other foods. But we went back again to try out the foods the next trip.
The "Sarawak Laksa" is only available on Sunday only.
Sarawak Laksa
Well, the Sarawak laksa is just so-so but I think it will be great for those who missed "Sarawak Laksa" as the fragrant still there. It does not have much ingredients in there. as usually there will have some sliced prawn. But here, they only served thinly sliced egg. The other concern is the chili paste. It is totally different. All I can taste is only the belachan flavours. It was not fully blended. ^-^
Sarawak Kam Pua
Well, if you missed "Sarawak Kolok Mee" perhaps you can give this stall a try. The taste is quite similar. The noodles is cook to perfect timing as it is not too soft. As I hate soft noodles. I like the springy textures of the noodle. This Kam Pua cost RM3 per plate which compares to Sarawak with this money, there will have more toppings like minced pork, fish ball and...... added on. But here they just use few pieces of pork slice.
Sarawak Kam Pua Soup
The soup is just a clear soup but I can taste that the owner of the stall has added some "Foochow Red Wine" in there and make the soup a bit different.

Edmund Nasi Lemak
Hubby and my sil went to try the nasi lemak stall. There are few choices of dishes to choose from.
Mee Jawa
This stall sell two different kinds of mee Jawa. One is Mee Jawa Rebus and another one is stir fry mee jawa. I always opt for the Mee Jawa Rebus. As I love the sauces that make by this stall and also the crunchiest tops and the peanut coating.

Pattaya Fried Rice
This stall sells different kinds of friend rice. I found that when you dined in there, there are more fried rice than take away. ^.^ So far I have try 3 different kinds of fried rice from this stall. The Pattaya friend rice is not bad. But it is not done in the traditional ways that they wrap the rice in the egg. The egg was just served and covered on top. But the rice tasted not bad.

Chiang Mai Fried Rice
If you want to opt for something more spicy. Then you can try the Chiang Mai Fried Rice.
Pineapple Fried Rice
This is my gal favourites fried rice so far. And she never failed to finish it. She will always finish this plate of pineapple fried rice in no time. But she will omit the sultanas. She just doesn't like to take sultanas. She is an odd little gal as most kids love sultanas very much. ^.^ She loves the pineapples and the turmeric aroma.

Road Side Hakwer Stall in front of Honda @ Jalan Sungai Pinang, Penang

We have been wanted to patronise the hawker stall in front of Honda at Sungai Pinang for a long time. And finally we make our way there without my gal as she is schooling. We learned from our friends that there are always pack with people most of the time. So we choose to go during weekday. But the verdict is still full of people. But we managed to get a seat. ^-^
The only things in my mind is to try the mee sua as it is very popular in this place. So the first things hubby went to order is
Duck Drumstick Mee Sua
When the Mee Sua arrived, both hubby and I both reckon that the mee sua must be very soft judge by the look. As we don't really enjoy the noodles textures being over cooked. So as usual, captured some photo of the foods and hubby starts to dig in. And he told me that the mee sua textures is ok.
This bowl of duck drumstick mee sua is mine as hubby had the pork spare ribs and stomach mee sua. My bowl of mee sua tastes nice and the textures of the mee sua suits my taste buds. Once we parked our car nearby the stall, we already smell the herbal aroma came from this stall. And the soup base are full of herbal aroma and the duck drumstick is very tender.
The herbal uses for the soup base such as dang gui, wolfberries, dried mandarin peel and....... (p/s note: It has a very strong herbal aroma!!!!)

Pork Spare Ribs and Stomach Mee Sua
This is hubby ordered. And hubby loves it very much. But the spare ribs is not very tender compares to the duck drumstick. ^-^ At first hubby thought that the soup base for both mee sua are the same. After I tried hubby soup base, I told hubby that I prefer mine. Then hubby tastes some of the duck drumstick and he agrees with me. Hooray! I make another better choice than him again!!!! lol
We were sitting in front of this moving around motor bike selling chai koay and or koay. And hubby saw the wording " A TRY WILL CONVINCE YOU". Ah..... he was thinking why not give it a try! So he ordered some chai koay and "oh" kuih from the uncle as following:
Chai Koay and "oh" kuih
2 different chai koay
Look at the skin of the chai koay. It looks nice right? Well, both the chai koay taste nice.
"Oh Kuih" (Yam)
I am very particular with "oh kuih" as most of the place you get you cannot get the textured of the yam. And nowadays, most of the people nicely blend it. But I still prefer my "oh kuih" have some cube yam in there. And this stall "oh kuih" have few yam cube in there. The tastes vice is not bad.
Nasi Lemak
After hubby finished his breakfast, he is waiting for me as I still take my own sweet time to enjoy my breakfast. He looked around and he spotted the nasi lemak stall and he told me he went there and check it out. When he returned, he came back with a plate of nasi lemak. lol
But he make a good move though. As if he did not check it out this stall, we will not savour this nice aroma and tasty nasi lemak. The sambal uses were so tasty and the rice has a great aroma that hubby thought of "take away" for our gal. But after much discussion, we did not bought her that as we worried by the time she come home from school, the nasi lemak might be spoilt.
After school, hubby told her that we went to have a nice aroma and did not take away for her as we scare that it spoilt and she kept complaining that we always go to have some nice foods while she is busy schooling. lol We promised her to bring her there to try one day.
