Xiang Yun Vegetarian House @ Bayan Point, Penang.

Am glad that my friend and I chose this restaurant for catch up. Love the ambiance, good and attentive waiter and waitress plus a cooling place.
After we browsed through the menu, we decided to order some pipping hot food and drinks for the day.

Beverage that we order:

Latte - RM7.90
I am having latte and love my cup of latte.  I think one of the reason that I like the atmosphere because it was full with nice aroma of coffee.
Cappuccino - RM7.90

Food that we try:

Bah Kut Teh - RM9.90
We decided to get two types of dishes so that we can savour different types of dish. Bah Kut Teh is one of our favourite. Both of us enjoy the soup very much.
With this bah kut teh set, it came with yau char kuih and rice. The claypot bah kut teh filled with lot of ingredients too. Such as mushroom, enoki mushroom, black fungus, lettuce, bean curd, bean sheet and more.
The soup base taste delicious and has a nice aroma of assorted herbs.

Claypot Tofu Rice - RM7.90
When the claypot tofu being served, it was pipping hot as you can see from the photos above. They have generous of tofu, black fungus, carrot slice, mushroom and lettuce.

Liu Li Xiang Klang Bak Kut Teh @ Gottlieb Road, Penang

During one rainy day, hubby and I were undecided what to have for dinner. And when we drove past Liu Li Xiang Klang Bak Kut Teh, we decided to drop in to try their foods. As we always passed through them but never have the chance to try it. And since it is rainy seasons, a pot of bak kut teh can warm us up.Liu Li Ciang Klang Bak Kut Teh should be no strangers to anyone as it has been operated for many years. It is located near Penang Chinese Girls' High School (PCGHS) @ Gottlieb Road, Penang.

Liu Li Xiang Klang Bak Kut Teh

Bak Kut Teh

Hubby ordered the bak kut teh and add more meat balls for my gal. She was very cold before she sip on the bak kut teh soup. After the first sip, she cannot resist for more as it could warm her up. She always loves the soup. Guess that soup base suits her taste buds.

Kerabu Bean curd

While ordering the bak kut teh, hubby was asked whether he would like to add on some additional dishes. Since we were pretty hungry, hubby decided to try the kerabu bean curd. We were told that this dish is one of the popular dishes. And we were not regret to order it. In fact we love it very much. The bean curd was deep fried and was coated with kerabu plus their special sauce.

Stir fry kailan with garlic

Usually we will order some greens for our meal and this time round, hubby order stir fry kailan as my gal enjoys eating the stem of kailan. ^0^Yam Rice

Hubby and I try their yam rice. And it is a bit too mushy for me.

White Rice

My gal always loves white rice. So order this for her. ^-^
Overall, it is a comfort foods for us during a rainy day. And foods are not bad.

Tanjong Tokong Food Court, Tanjung Toking, Penang

Gosh... it's more than a week that I did not update my blog. Being too busy lately. Anyway, I tell my self I shouldn't neglect this blog for too long. So I decided to blog something that I tried in Tanjong Tokong Food Court.
We came to know this food court when we travelling from Tanjung Bungah. Spotted this food court and decided to give it a try when we are in that area. It is quite a huge food court and with lots of varieties there. But since only 3 of us, we cannot ordered too much. So for the night we tried:
Century Egg Porridge
I feel like having some porridge that night. So hubby ordered century egg porridge for me. With the combination of century egg and salted eggs, chinese yu tiao, spring onion, deep fried shallots and dash of pepper. It is such a comfort food for me. It tastes nice.
Deep Fried Tofu
Bak Kut Teh
Hubby saw a stall selling bak kut teh and decide to order bak kut teh without any rice. Since it is a rainy night on our visit, this soup is really a wonderful things to have. To warm ourselves from the rainy spell. As for the soup base, it is a bit darker but tastes nice. Have lots of herbal aroma in there.
Fried Rice
My gal opt for fried rice. And she told me that the fried rice is nice.
Fried Tang Hoon
Hubby looking around and saw this fried tang hoon stall and decided to get one for himself. And his verdict is not too bad.
Overall, we found that the foods served in this food court are nice. And we will be going back to try out other stuff when we are around that area again.

Beng Kee Claypot Bak Kut Teh @ Burmah Road, Penang

I browse through my photos and wonder what to post and i decided to post Bak Kut Teh since it has been raining for the past few days in Penang.
We went to Old Green House coffee shop during one outing last month as hubby want to have some Hokkien Mee.
It was raining when we about to have our dinner. We were lucky that we are able to get a car park just next to Old Green House Coffe Shop. When we opened our car door, the bak kut teh aroma get to us immediately.......... lol In our mind, immediately we want to have bak kut teh instead of other things. ^-^ Seem like the bak kut teh cast us the spell............. we just cannot resist the temptation.
So after sitting down, hubby went to order Bak Kut Teh from
Beng Kee Claypot Bah Kut Teh
Bah Kut Teh
This is our bowl of bah kut teh....... I think hubby ordered most of the things....... such as meat ball, spare ribs, enoki mushroom, mushroom slice, pork innards.............. Half way through the meal, hubby went to order extra meat ball for my gal. And we were filled with hot bowl of soup too..... so imagine that in a rainy day with bah kut teh...... it's just nice..... right?
Yew Char Kuih
Lettuce with meat floss
We will always order some greens to go with bah kut teh as my gal enjoyed it very much.
Yam Rice
The yam rice tasted alright.
The total price for the meal cost us RM23.60 including extra bowl of meat ball, 2 yam rice and Claypot Bah Kut Teh.

Zealand Seafood @ Gurney Drive, Penang

At the beginning of January this year, we went to Zealand Seafood for our late breakfast cum lunch. It is over the weekend and all of us sleep in. So by the time we are ready for food hunt, it's almost lunch time. ^o^
Zealand Seafood
Location: 62 Gurney Drive 10250 Penang.
Tel: 012-4738877
Some menu on the wall
Business hours: 7.30am - 2.45pm and 6pm - 11.30pm
Since, it's our lunch time and my gal would like to have some bah kut teh as she saw people ordering that. And she told us that she would like to have some too. So we order:
Bah Kut Teh
Zoom version of Bah Kut Teh
The Bah Kut Teh is dark in colour compares to the one in Song River Bah Kut Teh. My gal enjoy having the soup. And half way through we were top up with more hot Bah Kut Teh soup. My gal is so happy and sip more and more. The pork is very tender.
Yew Char Kuih
Deep Fried Chicken with Special Sauce
Hubby would like to order some chickens for our gal. And the person who took our order that told us it is only "little' spicy. But when the chicken arrived, both hubby and my gal said it is very spicy for them. So I am the one have to finish all of it. ^o^ For those who cannot take spicy food should omit this dish.
Deep Fried Fish
Hubby eyes went "BIG" when he heard that they have this deep fried fish. As it's been very long time that he did not eat this kind of fish. The reason being that I never prepare deep fried food in my kitchen. Unless some one do the deep fried job. So most of the time we get to eat deep fried stuff when we went back to my MIL place.
Hubby enjoyed the fish so much and we (my gal and I) are fortunate that hubby help us to take out the fish meat. lol
Stir Fry French Beans
French beans again???? Yes.... my gal loves it very much. And it looks similar with the Song River Bah Kut Teh stir fry french beans, right? That's what we said when the order came in. Anyway.... it's equally delicious.
We had a very full lunch after that and will come back when we need some "Chu Char" as they have extensive menu for us to choose. lol

Song River Bah Kut Teh @ Gurney Drive, Penang

During one weekend in February. We are thinking what to have for our breakfast in town area? Then we passed through Gurney Drive and hubby suggested that we try
Song River Bah Kut Teh
Location: 65 Persiaran Gurney, 10250 Georgetown.
Tel: 012-4088345
Since we never try the foods before, we decided to give it a try. ^o^
And since it is a cooling morning, we decided to order:

Bah Kut Teh
Well.... from the pictures, you can clearly see that their soup base is quite clear compare to the other bak kut teh. The tastes is a bit milder and you will hardly smell the Chinese herbs aroma. Which is quite good for people who don't like the herbs aroma.
Actually, when I am watching some cooking programme, I learn from the shows that the good bah kut teh soup base is very clear and no Chinese herbs aroma. ^o^ But I guessed it is up to individual tastes bud, right?
Claypot Fish Meat Bee Hoon Soup
We also ordered another fish meat bee hoon Soup to try. And my gal loves it very much. And she and my hubby finished the whole bowl. Lucky that I get to savour some before they finished. ^o^ However, I feel that the bee hoon is too soft for my liking. The fish meat is ok.
Stir fry french beans
The auntie took our order asked if we would like to have some vegetables. So hubby ordered one of these as my gal loves french beans a lot. And the tastes is very nice and off course my little gal ate most of this dish. lol
Overall..... the foods are not bad.

Rou Gu Cha KiNG @ Queensbay Mall, Penang

It was raining yesterday evening and we decided to go Queensbay Mall to have our dinner since they have car park where we won't get wet.
Initially, our intention is not visiting Rou Gu Cha KiNG as we also did not realised there is a shop barely opened just for a week. They opened since last Monday. It's my gal who spotted this restaurant and told us all about it. And since we never tried their foods before, we decided to give it a try!
Rou Gu Cha KiNG
Some promotion set menu
Menu
Garlic Scallop ~ RM6.90
There are 4 garlic scallops in a plate. There are lots of garlic on top of the scallops as what the name called. hahhahahaa........ If you do not like garlic, please omit this.
Red Wine Chicken Rou Gu Cha (SET) ~ RM17.90
We ordered this to try. We ordered the one person set meal. It consists of red wine chicken rou gu cha, white rice,
bean sprout with oyster sauce, beancurd, "you char kway"
and tea.
We were fascinated by the name red wine chicken rou gu cha. And it is specify that their red wine is from Australia. As we had some Foo Chow red wine before and so we are willing to try the Australia red wine cook with rou gu cha. And since it's raining season, a bowl of rou gu cha would be nice. lol
My gal wanted to try the soup and after first sip she told me it's very sweet and many wine in there. lol Well..... she is right, the soup base is a bit sweet due to the red wine plus the chicken and it has a strong wine aroma. However, hubby comments that the rou gu cha cannot sustain the heat well due to the air condition, the heat gone in just few minutes. As hubby prefer "HOT" soup. ^o^
Dry Rou Gu Cha (SET) ~ 12.90
We also ordered another personal set for dry rou gu cha as we want to try their differences. In the menu, it's indicate that dry rou gu cha is a bit spicy but it turn out to be not spicy at all. This is my gal told me. I agree with her too. However the pork is very tender and the tastes vice is not too bad. Other than chicken and pork, there are other ingredients like meat balls, bean curd, mushroom, tofu bamboo vegetables........
However, you can add on extra things from the menu, and it will charge accordingly.
Golden Pear Dumplings ~ Rm6.90
Hubby saw this and he thinks that it is very cute and decided to try it out. It is basically
consist of vegetarian meat, potato, Japanese bread crumb, Cinnamomi Ramulu (from the menu).
We did not like it after our first bite.
