Hopoh Canteen @ Jalan Jee Foh Utama (Wisma Hopoh Miri Lot 1018)98000Miri, Sarawak Malaysia.

We have a short trip to Miri, Sarawak to attend an important function of the family members. Therefore, we have a chance to savour some foods in Miri.
One of the food stops is the famous old time favourite assorted "chai kuih" and Koay chap at Wisma Hopoh. We were told to get there early in the morning in order to savour this. As if you came late, the "chai kuih" might already sold off especially during weekend.

Food that we savour:

Deep fried beancurd
I am actually love the deep fried beancurd offer in most of the places in Sarawak. Some of the deep fried beancurd offer here is stuffed with pork and some with the added salted fish. It will make the beancurd more flavourable.
Assorted Chai Kuih

There are different types of chai kuih that we savoured. If you see from the first photo of the assorted chai kuih, you will notice two of it is wrap in rectangular shapes. I was told that it was wrap with  "Koay Tiaw". Just that this is in big sheet compare to the one one we had for char Koay tiaw. But still I prefer the normal chai kuih but find that the skin of the chai kuih is not thin enough compare to those my aunt mother in law make. But that will just kept in my memory.
The fillings of all the chai kuih are quite generous and taste vice is still nice.

Kolo Mee
My girl is having the kolo mee which she reckon that it is a bit too soft for her liking.

Koay Chap
I had the Koay chap. Soup base is tasty and lots of ingredients in the Koay chap. The Koay is a bit thinner compare to those serve in Penang.

FoOd PaRaDiSe verdict:

Overall, it's a place that you can try several things in one roof. Lucky that we woke ourselves up early to give this place a try.

Kedai Makanan & Minuman Satu Satu Tiga 113 (revisit) @ Lebuh Melayu, Penang

Most of the time I will go and patronise this shop in the morning for their KTT. But I never have the chance to try out their Koay Chap. So during one outing. Hubby and I decided to try our luck and see if we were lucky enough to try out their koay chap. Finally, this time we have the chance to try it out. ^-^
Plate of combination of loh duck slice, bean curd, eggs and pork intestines
Since we arrived there a bit late. They only left some choices. So we ordered whatever they had left. Since I blog about this in my last blog post, here. So I no need to elaborate much in this blog post.
Koay Chap
There are different textures of koay chap around us. So what type of koay chap textures that you like? If you like a thick koay chap textures, then you would probably love this shop koay chap. Their koay chao are thick. For me, I take both types of koay chap. This shop koay chap was being served with their special soup and sprinkle with chinese parsley. I always like chinese parsley to go with the koay chap. It brings out the fragrant of the koay chap.
Porridge
Combination of loh bak
Hubby went to order loh bak in the front coffee shop. You can order foods from the front coffee shop to this coffee shop. Since we saw many people ordered the loh bak from the past visit, we decided to give it a try as well. The loh bak are nice. Hubby ordered loh bak, prawn fritters, pig ears and bean curd. It is nice to go with the sauce.

Kedai Kopi New Cathay @ Pulau Tikus, Penang

I am sure this is the place where it is not a stranger to anybody in Penang. As this coffee shop serves nice and varieties foods. We tend to have difficulty to get a seat no matter whether you go during weekdays or weekend. It is usually full house. Normally we will go there during breakfast in the weekend but during one weekday whereby hubby taking day off, we decide to go there and check out whether there are as many patrons as always.
So one weekday, we arrived Kedai Kopi New Cathay around 8.10am and we still mange to get table for two. So hubby went around and order the foods and mind you, he is so hungry that day and he order a lot. hahahhahaa......
Mee Jawa
Hubby opts for the stir fry version of mee jawa. And we found out that the way the stall owner add in the egg into the mee jawa is something different. Every piece of the noodles is cover with egg. Hubby comments that the noodles are not bad.

Chai Koay
Hubby cannot wait any longer and bought some chai kuih and kuih from the kuih stall. The chai koay being serves there are not too bad. The skin and fillings of the chai koay are ok.
Kuih
I am not really a fans of nyonya kuih. But I do take it from time to time. I am not sure when, I started to dislike the kuih that coat with coconut. But hubby insist me to try and told me that it tastes nice. As an adventure person, I will always try my best to try. Overall, not too bad.

Hokkien Mee
Both of us share this hokkien mee. And this bowl of hokkien mee is quite nice. Have a nice aroma.

Wantan Mee
This is one of my gal favourites. I remember when she last visited this cafe, she loves it so much. Hubby loves the springy textures of the wantan mee and he told me that it is worth the waiting time. lol

Koay Chap
This is actually my order of koay chap. I like to try different stall of koay chap. Each stall has it own aroma and flavour. And the textures of the koay chap varies too. Overall, I found that the koay chap here are not bad. If you don't like the coriander, then you have to ask the stall owner not to put as it will immersed into the koay chap soup base.
My previous post about the pancake can be view here.
