MAMA One Ton Mee @ Lorong Susu, Penang.

During one outing in the afternoon, we went to Lorong Susu for Koay Teow Th'ng but unfortunately, the KTT stall was not open on that day. And since we were too hungry, we decided to try out MAMA One Ton Mee. When we went there, it's around 2pm in the afternoon. And some of the foods that we would like to try had been sold out for the day.

MAMA One Ton Mee
Address: No. 1, Lorong Susu, Georgetown, Penang.
Business Hour: 8am - 5pm (Closed on Wednesday)

Since we had only limited choices, we decided to try on their famous one ton mee:

One Ton Mee with Char Siew
This came with a bowl of wantan soup. And the noodles are very springy. Quite like the textures.
The wantan soup is nice.
Fresh Prawn One Ton Mee
The noodle itself is the same as the normal one ton noodle serves in this shop. The only different is the fresh prawn one ton mee did not include char siew but with a couple of leafy vegetables plus prawn dumplings. The dumplings were nice.
One Ton Mee textures.....
Prawn Dumplings

Shanghai Noodles
Apart from one ton mee, we decided to try out their shanghai noodles. The textures were ok. But we expected to me more springy. As we love springy types of noodles. Overall, the shanghai noodles are not bad but hubby feel that it is a bit salty for his liking.

We were fortunate to get invitation from Qyzzy and the management of the restaurant to attend the review of this restaurant. And we get to savour the following dishes for the night:

Tri Flavour Red Snapper 红狮三味 – RM25/pc
The red snapper was cooked using their tri flavour sauce. Personally, the sauce offers in this dish is just so-so for me. As may be I don't really like the combination. ^-^

Steamed Grouper 石斑清蒸 – RM80/kg
The steam grouper that we had is very fresh. The fish was catched by using fishing rod rather than the net.

Steamed Clam 花芭蒸 – RM18
Freshly steamed clam and I think my gal will enjoy this.

Chicken Satay沙爹鸡串 – RM0.80/stick
Each time we visited the 好友 in Teluk Kumbar, we will sure ordered the chicken satay. However, I still like the chicken satay back in Teluk Kumbar than here. Although they claimed that they get from the same supplier. Perhaps may be the way they grilled it is some how different.^-^

Nestum Chicken – RM38, Sour Plum Chicken 麦香鸡与酸梅鸡 – RM38
You can order both of these as a combination or you can order it as seperate dish. The nestum chicken had it's fragrant but the texture of the chicken is a bit tough. My gal will surely reject to take bite of a hard textures chicken. Whereas the sour plum chicken is nothing special.

Good Friend Pork Trotter 好友猪手 – RM32/pc
Are you fan of pork trotter? Perhaps you can give this a try. But I personally feel that the pork trotter is a bit too try for my liking.

Broccoli Scallop 西兰花带子 – RM38
Crispy Tofu 脆香豆腐 – RM20
You can give it a try of this. I think kids would love it. I personally think that this dish is worth for a try for kids who take tofu.

Kum Heong Prawn 甘香虾 – RM80/kg
You must be wonder why their kum heong prawns are different from others right? Well, I think each restaurant had it's own style of kum heong. I am a big fans of prawn. However, I still like the way they prepare it "Pak Chiok" Style.^-^

Fresh Mantis Prawn
Cheese Mantis Prawn 芝司螳螂虾 – Price vary according to size (Big RM28/pc, Small RM15/pc)
I am not fans of food that cook with cheese. As it is a bit too heavy for me. I did try the cheese mantis prawn. And it tastes alright for me and if you like cheese, may be you can give this a try!

Signature Crab 招牌螃蟹 – RM50/kg
This is their signature crab. Actually most of the time I went to Teluk Kumbar, we will ordered their baked crab. My brother and sister claimed that they had the best baked crab they ever had.   ^-^ The signature crab comes with the steamed man tou. Loves the shapes of the mantou. I think if my gal saw this, she will sure finished all the mantou first. ^-^ The crab sauces are not too spicy for me.

Teow Chew Noodle 潮州面条 – RM12

Salted Fish Fried Rice 咸鱼炒饭 – RM12

Fruits (Complementary)

Dessert 糖水 – RM12
Overall, this restaurant is offering many different types of dishes. And for those who have kids that only can dine in air condition places, this is one of the places that you can visit for seafood.

Chee Cheong Cheok @ Jalan Kuala Kangsar, Penang.

Do you know where is this stall?
If you been to the morning market at Jalan Kuala Kangsar (GPS Coordinates : N05 25.093   E100 19.965), I think you will noticed the Chee Cheong Cheok (Pork Innard Congee). Every time when I walked passed the stall, it was full of patrons. This leads my hubby and I wonder.... hmm.... this stall must be good. So we decided to try out the congee. And since we have two seats located just in front of the stall. We just sat there and watching the boss preparing the congee and with the helping hands of his helper.
The boss is very friendly and polite person. He told us to wait for a while as there were too many people waiting. But the waiting period was in acceptable time frame. While waiting for our congee, there are many people came for "take away". So we took some photos using our compact camera.
Fried Intestines (almost finished)
Chee Cheong Cheok with sprinkle spring onion
We order everything - contains fried intestines, intestines, liver, spleen, pig's blood (豬血) and char Siew. (You can request to add or not to add anything from the above to your bowl of congee)

This is how it looks like after I mix everything.
We love the fried intestines very much. Very crispy! And the congee serves while it's hot. It suits my hubby tastes bud as he loves very very hot congee and very very hot soup. When the bowl of congee served in front of me, I still can see the congee still bubbling. ^-^

Balik Pulau Laksa @ Nan Guang Coffee Shop, Penang

After we brought our visitors to Ah Soon Durian Orchard, we stop by for laksa. Everyone should have known that one of the famous foods in Balik Pulau is Laksa. In here, you can order the normal laksa, Siam Laksa or the combination of both. However, everyone go after the normal laksa. Our visitor from Ipoh found that it was too watery for their liking. I suggested that they tried the combination but they were too full after the durian feast that we had earlier on. ^-^
Business hours: 12.30pm – 3.30pm (Closed on Wednesday).

Normal Laksa

Zoom in for the soup base

The laksa noodles......
If you are some where near Balik Pulau, you may drop by and savour the laksa. Sometime the shop is full of customers and you need to wait for a while.
If you would like to try out the nutmeg juice, you could try it out from this coffee shop as well. ^-^
