Kedai Makanan Nam Hooi

Sorry for not updating my blog for the past few days as I am away for a short trip. :) I am very tired after the short trip and busy for the past few days too. So, I might be slow updating my blog lately and hope everyone for understanding. lol
Well, I would like to wish every one "Gong Xi Fa Cai" and Happy "Niu" Year.
The post that I am going to introduce to every one today is ~
Kedai Makanan Nam Hooi
We passed through this restaurant every time when we are in Burmah Road and we did not notice this restaurant until few months ago when hubby wanted to parked our car in New World Park via Burmah Road Entrance. When hubby stopped to get the ticket, I can smell a very nice aroma coming through this restaurant. So we marked down this restaurant in our list and we get to try their foods last December.
Seating of Kedai Makanan Nam Hooi
We ordered the following and try:
Sweet and Sour Promfret
When we about to enter the restaurant, we can smell sweet and sour aroma coming from the open air kitchen. So we decided to give it a try and we ordered this sweet and sour promfret and it turns out to be nice. The fish is very fresh and it is very crunchy. My gal loves the sauce very much. I guess most kid loves the sweet and sour sauce. :D
Next, we ordered:
Tong Poh Rou
This is one of their signature dishes. The lady that took our order recommended that we should try their signature dish. So we give it a try. Well..... their tong poh rou is very different from others. Both hubby and I think that they used fermented bean curd to cook their tong poh rou and it tastes something different.
Stir fry bean sprout with salted fish
We love this dish very much. Although it is a very simple dish. lol
Overall..... the foods taste nice and the price is quite reasonable. They serve the foods very fast even though there are many peoples when we dine there.

Jade Blossom Restaurant

Since today is the eve of Chinese New Year 2009, I would like to wish my readers, friends and families,
"Happy and Prosperous Chinese New Year"
Today, I would like to share with you the dinner that we had @ Jade Blossom Restaurant for PS farewell during November 2008. lol
Location: 1-1-22 Krystal Point 2, Bayan Lepas, Penang.
Tel: 04-6438064
First, we go for some soup....... and the soup of the night is

Winter Melon Soup
The soup tastes very nice. The soup consists of winter melon, red dates, spare ribs.........

Bamboo Rice
Hubby insist us to try their bamboo rice as he tried that b4. So we order one each to try it out.

Sauce for the bamboo rice
You have to put some of this sauce to go with the bamboo rice. As for the tastes of the bamboo rice, I think nothing special. It is something like claypot rice that is served in a bowl rather than claypot.
Deep Fried Fish

Broccoli with scallops, prawns and fresh fish slice
It is a very nice dish. The scallops, prawns and fish slice is very fresh. and the broccoli tastes perfect as some tend to over cooked it. lol
Stir fry Ostrich Meat with black pepper
The ostrich meat is very tender.
Next, hubby order ........... "Jiang Su" Duck
Shredded duck in the process
After the waitress shredded the duck
Pancake skin for shredded duck
Cucumber
Spring onion
Sauce
Following are the step by step of how hubby takes his Jiang Su duck:
Step 1 : Put a piece of pancake skin on a plate
Step 2: Brush some sauce on top of the pancake

Step 3: Put some spring Onion, cucumber and shredded duck

Step 4 : Wrap it together....... and start eating it....... lol
After our dinner, hubby suggests us to try "Yam Desserts" as he tried it b4. So we ordered one plate to share and try.
Yam desserts
We were told that this desserts is free for us as it is the last plate for the day. lol The desserts is actually a well blended yam and I think they add in coconut milk as well and serve with some gingkos. Hubby asked them not to add any sugar for the dessert as he like it that way but PS and me prefer to have a bit of sugar that will make it more fabulous. lol

Restoran Hock Chuan Heong
Hubby went to this restaurants few time with his colleagues and he wanted to bring my gal and I to try the foods. So finally we make it there few weeks ago. And we ordered:

Fried Tang Hoon
We love this tang hoon very much. At first my gal wants to have some white rice. So we ordered her one small bowl of rice and I encourage her to try the tang hoon but at first she doesn't want and when hubby and I kept saying that it is great and she started to try a small bit. After she tried it, she demands more. lol Hubby plans to get another plates but since there are lots of customers, I asked hubby not to order as it will take ages to serve. lol
I highly recommend their fried tang hoon. It is very tasty.
Stir Fry Bean Curd with Leek and Prawn
The bean curd is very nice. We like the combination of the leek and prawn with the bean curd.
Deep Fried Prawn Fritter
Hubby ordered this for my gal. And it tastes very crunchy and fresh.
We did not get to order more as the person took order from us seems in hurry. We will go back to try out their other foods soon.
***** A piece of advice, if you want to visit this place, please go early as there are many customers.*****

Spicy Chicken Sandwich ~ RM14.50
Hubby decided to try the sandwiches since he saw some tables away ordering it. And there are wide ranges of sandwich to choose from. And you can choose the types of bread that you prefer - white bread, wholemeal, multi grains.........
Hubby opt for multi - grain. And the bread came with toasted. And hubby chose spicy chicken to go with the sandwich. It turned out to be the best foods out of the other. lol However, it is a like fusion types of sandwich.
Roasted Chicken ~ Rm15
I saw this from the menu and it indicated that it ss their special so I decided to give it a try. The tastes vice is just so-so only. lol It consists of 1/4 chicken, potatoes wedges, salads and gravy.
Spaghetti Chicken Bolognese ~ RM22
My gal opts for Spaghetti Chicken Bolognese. Well...... it is a bit too sour for her liking. But she still finished it.
Since we were quite full after the meals, we decided not to ordered any more desserts. lol For the environment vice, it is very cosy and quiet. It is one of the place where you can sit down and catch up with friends. As for foods, I think THE ECLECTIC tastes better. lol will tried out the other two restaurants next time.
