Road Side 大路边 @ Jalan Bagan Jermal, Penang

We have been passing by this place several times and many times when we passed by this shop, it was full of cars and the car parks are limited, and the shop is located along the main road. So during the June school holiday we stopped by this place on a weekday slightly before 7pm and there are plenty of car park spaces waiting for us. :)

Finally........ we get to savour some of the foods from this restaurant. I have a quick glance of the food from the food station and told hubby to order the food. You can choose varieties of ingredients to put in your tom yam, clear soup fish head bee hoon, milky soup fish head bee hoon, porridge and etc. You can also simply opt for the normal fish head bee hoon.

For the seating area, they offered air conditioning or non air conditioning area. We opt for the air conditioning area since it is a very hot day.

Food that we savour:

Deep Fried Mantis Prawn - RM5
Quiet surprised with the price of the deep fried mantis prawn. I reckon it is quite good to go with beer though. It is quiet a nice plate of deep fried mantis prawn before our bee hoon being served.

Deep fried fish - RM18
Hubby loves this very much. I would said that they deep fried the right way. Fish just nicely done, not too dry and still keep the crispness.

Pork porridge - RM6
Hubby had this and when this is being served we were puzzled as it was served in a big bowl. We wonder how about the rest of the order.

Bee Hoon Th'ng  with fresh fish slice - RM9

Additional- RM8.50
This bowl of fresh fish slice bee hoon soup cost us RM17.50 because of the additional ingredients hubby added on. That why it appear to be very big bowl. At the end we have to help out to finish all the ingredients.

Tom Yum Bee Hoon soup with fried fish fillet - RM7.00

Additional - RM6.00

Ah...... tom yam suppose someone is having this but at the end we swapped as she cannot take the spiciness of the tom yam. However, i feel that the tom yam is not that spicy with little bit hint of sourness and sweetness. I reckon it will be quiet a good choice if you want to find something that open your appetite. This tom yam also have some additional add on therefore  the cost of this tom yam is RM13.00. 

Ice Kopi O and Ice Nutmeg - RM1/glass.

I think next time I will just stick to the normal serving without the additional add on. Loves the deep fried mantis prawn, deep fried fish and the tom yam. 

The Hillside Cafe Bar and Restaurant @ Hillside, Penang.

During a rainy morning, we decided to step into this cafe for our late breakfast cum lunch. You can park your car in front of the restaurant but during our visit its all fully occupied so we have to park opposite the road. 

Service was very fast and efficient. We were welcome by the waitress and chose our favour table and seated. Then we were being told that they served breakfast and lunch from the menu. So we browsed through the menu for sometime and proceed with our orders.

After order our food, I just have the chance to look around the environment of the cafe. It was quite a nice place. Cosy I would said with the soft music played all the time during our dining there. Both my gal and I quite enjoy it. We felt its quite relaxing. Apart from that both side of their walls of hang lots of photos that took from Siem Reap and China. Which recall our Siem Reap two years back.

While waiting for the food being served, you could read some magazines provided by the cafe. There also have free wifi if you need it.

Cappuccino and flat white - RM9 (each)

We ordered cappuccino and flat white as our drink. 

The Works - RM22.50

Basically it's a big breakfast to me. This is my gal meal. She has been pestering me for a home cooked western breaky for quite some time but still did not have the chance to make her favourite so I asked her to try The Works which consisted of two sunny eggs, strip of bacon, a toast bread, baked beans, sausages, grilled tomatoes and butter.

Half way through her meal, she is like Ms. Santa, giving away some food for hubby and me. She told us that this was a big breakfast and she was too full! 

Cafe Burger - RM16

Hubby opted for the cafe pork burger. It served with the side dish like fries, tomato sauce and salad. 

Hubby commented that the pork burger is tender and juicy. 

Breakfast Bap - RM 15.50

Basically it is a toasted English muffins with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and sauces served with salad on the side. Love the toasted muffins. Very crunchy toast. That goes well with the ingredients inside.

Bak Kut Teh Cottage Delight 浓乡美食轩@ Cameron Highlands, Pahang

We have been a frequent visitors to Cameron highland lately. As I need to bring my visitors around. I have been stopping by this cafe for few times over the year for breakfast and lately stopped by for early lunch.

This is usually my girl choice of breakfast, Not sure why she always order this when she visited this cafe. 

 Ho Hee - RM5.00
We are not sure what is Ho Hee. So we just order one bowl to try. It is basically like koay tiaw thn'g and top with some fish ball, fish wantan and fuchok.

Wanton Mee - RM5.00

They have choice of wantan mee. Either with char siew or wantan. We tried the char siew version. It's a different type of wantan mee compares to the one in Penang style. But quite a good try though.

Hakka Mee - RM5.00

I like their hakka noodles. The noodles got springy textures and it came with a bowl of small yong tao foo. Their yong tao foo is also very nice. 

Curry Noodles - RM5.50

I like the yong tao foo that immerse in the curry. It tastes more flavourable for me. But the last visit the curry noodles sold out. If you like curry perhaps you can give this a try.
