Middle of nowhere assam laksa @ Balik Pulau, Penang.

During Chinese New Year, we got visitors all the way from Melbourne to visit Penang. We spent few hours with our guests to bring them around Balik Pulau and try out some of our local foods. We stop by Middle of nowhere for some Penang Laksa.

Nutmeg juice - RM3
Actually, personally I prefer this nutmeg juice compare to the white nutmeg juice. I found that the white nutmeg juice is too strong for my liking.

Penang Laksa - RM5/bowl
Our guests are actually one of the chef at an Italian restaurant in Melbourne. After he savour ed the Laksa, he and his partner felt in love with it. They loved the soup very much and was told to go back and try out his own version of laksa.
Overall, the laksa is quite nice and love the relaxing environment during this visit. The last visit was too crowded with full house customers.

Order this for them to try. Sometime I like to order this or spring roll to go with the laksa soup.

Hai Wei Restaurant @ Tanjung Bungah, Penang

The restaurant that I am going to blog about today is a place at Tanjung Bungah. Most of the people who stay at Tanjung Bungah area would have known this place.
Actually we heard about this place for quite sometime. But we only visited this place few months ago and the latest was weeks ago.
Business was really good during our visit. The first visit we did not had the chance to try out their crab rice. So the second time we called for reservation of the crab rice.
During our first visit, we tried:

Cincalok Prawn
All of us love the prawn very much. This is the first time for me to try savouring prawn cooked using cincalok. The prawn itself is very fresh.

Curry Tumis Fish
This dish is very appetising. It is actually tastes a bit like Penang laksa soup. A balancing of sweetness and sourness from the soup. Fish were very fresh too.

During our second visit, we tried the following:

Crab Rice - RM79
If you would like to try this crab rice, you better call them and pre-book. I was fortunate on that day. I call around five something and was told that they still have crab rice for the day. Sometime, you can try your luck on the spot to see if you are lucky to get it.
Well, this crab rice is for 4 of us. Which off course including my princess. We were very full after savouring it. No wonder we were told that having crab rice would be enough.
Well, we managed to finish all the crab but still left some rice.

Cincalok Squid - RM12
Well, we tried their cincalok prawn before and loves the sauces. So we decided to order cincalok squid. It was equally delicious for cincalok squid and cincalok prawn.

FoOd PaRaDiSe Review:

After last spring cleaning, we decided to go out for dinner. We have been to this place few times, but I did not blog about it. For this visit, we realised that they have changed their menu. Some of the foods we tried were no longer in the menu. But they introduce some new choices too.

Piri Piri Chicken - RM18.80
Basically, it is a whole roasted chicken thigh with spicy piri piri sauce. Well be warned though it is very spicy dishes with the bird's eye chili in it. However, I feel that it is something different which will surely open up your appetite as it also include lemon and herbs on it.

Balsamic N' Onion Ribs - RM29.80
I believed that because of the balsamic, the ribs are very tender. The ribs also infused with homemade onion sauce.

Flaming spicy ribs - RM19.70
We was introduced to the new flavour of rib. Was told that it is a bit spicy for those who cannot take spicy food. It turn out to be not too spicy for us except for my princess.

Top CheeZzy Pizza - RM23.80
This turn out to be my princess favourite pizza for the night. She loves cheese very much and with the pineapple and tomatoes also her favourite topping. It also came with some olives.

FoOd PaRaDiSe verdict:

Overall, it's a nice place to dine in. Cosy ambience's, lovely and friendly attendant. We enjoyed their ribs and pizza. Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to try out their pork knuckle which you need to made reservation one day before. Perhaps, the next visit.
