XUAN XIN RESTAURANT

Location: 170-03-86 Gurney Plaza, Persiaran Gurney, 10250 Penang. (new wing)
Tel: 04-2297882
Last sunday, we went to Gurney Plaza as PS wants to do some shopping there. While we shop around the new wings, hubby spotted this restaurant. He went to browse through the menu and think that the foods is nice. So we went to try it out!

Entrance of XUAN XIN Restaurant
This is the sister restaurant as Xuan Xin Buffet Steamboat, 101 Jalan Tanjung Tokong, 10470, Tanjung Tokong, Penang. But this is more towards hongkie style.

Menu

What we ordered for lunch........
I like the way the display of spoon and chopstick.

Interior of XUAN XIN

Watercress with spare ribs soup
PS had this and she comments that is is normal but tastes nice. My gal gets to share with her and my gal also comments that the soup is very nice. (As both of them like watercress very much.)

Papaya with spare ribs soup
This is hubby ordered and he comments that the soup is nice. I tried some and basically the soup is sweet as the sweetness came from the papaya. Very refreshing soup.

Sweet corn with crab meat soup
Well this is suppose my gal ordered. But when PS soup arrived first, she shared with PS. So this end up to be my soup. lol The soup is normal but one thing I want to mention is the crab meat. It is very fresh and lots of crab meat in there.

Steam fresh scallop with garlic and vermicelli ~ RM12
The scallops is fresh and nice but we found that it is a bit too salty for our liking. But it has nice garlic aroma.

Sauteed Lotus Ahizome ~ RM10.80
PS comments that this dish is over cooked and too sweet. lol

Stewed Cicken Cube with Basil Leaf in claypot ~ RM13.80
We found that this 3 cup chicken is not bad. Have a nice basil aroma.

Claypot Prawn with double boiled herbal soup ~ RM25
The prawns are indeed very fresh and the soup is full of Chinese herbs aroma.
Overall..... their food is just so-so and the rice is too soft to our liking. lol There are lots of people queue up to wait for their turn and may be because it is their first day of opening, they lack of experience to handle a huge crowd. But they were very polite to all of the customers and kept apologize to us while we waiting for our bills to come.
However, we were very lucky that we did not have to queue up and wait for our foods. Our foods came pretty fast. lol May be we will go back again to try out their porridge as they got varieties of choices to choose from and this time round I did not had the chance to flavour their desserts. Will try that out next time. lol
